Health and Climate Change
This front page article from the Sheffield Telegraph explores the links between health problems and climate change. While the impacts of climate change represent the greatest threat to health in the medium to long term, in the short term in Sheffield people are dying from causes such as a poor diet, cold homes and poor air quality. The irony is that the measures which would help these problems – e.g. insulating homes, reducing car traffic, and eating less meat and more veg – would also be some of the best the best ways to reduce climate emissions in our city. We’re looking forward to reading the full report which Dr Jeremy Wight, Director of Public Health, will present to Sheffield City Council on Wednesday 3rd Dec 2014.
