We spoke up!

As part of the Climate Coalition’s Week of Action, 1st-9th July, several Sheffield MPs were contacted or invited to events, and new constituency contacts have been added to our database:

Angela Smith MP (Penistone and Stocksbridge) was invited to Smithy Wood Litter Pick on Sun 2 July – she did not attend but will attend in September.

Paul Blomfield MP (Sheffield Central) was met at Sharrow Festival on 1st July by at least one constituent who wanted to talk about climate. He has since invited SCA to co-host a televised panel discussion on climate change in September.

Jared O’Mara MP (Sheffield Hallam’s new MP) was invited to a Nature Walk by a new constituency contact – he did not attend but the contact is willing to follow up

Gill Furniss MP (Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough) was invited to an event in Abbeyfield Park to which local councillors had already been invited

There was correspondence between SCA and new contacts in Penistone and Stocksbridge, Sheffield Hallam, Sheffield South East, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire.

Sheffield Heeley constituents have been reminded of the importance of raising climate with their MP, Louise Haigh, even though she is very much on-side already!

We’re really pleased that our work lobbying MPs locally is going from strength to strength – if you’d like to join in, please do get in touch!
