Tell us your climate stories

The news this morning is that 2014 was the hottest year on record, and full of weird weather around the globe. Some of the extremes are shown in this map – it is a staggering summary.

Here at Sheffield Climate Alliance we’d like to know more about the human stories behind this picture, so we’ve decided to launch a competition for photos and stories. 100,000 people were displaced in Pakistan and India – how are they surviving? Parts of Morocco had a year’s rain in just a few days – what does that look like for a farmer or a schoolchild? What happens to a village in southern Africa that experiences its worst drought for 80 years?

Our idea is to gather photos that show what happened to communities in 2014 with weird weather and climate extremes – e.g. drought, rainfall, storms or snow – and ask you to explain the story in a short piece of writing or recording.  We’ll publish a selection of the stories on our website, and hold an exhibition too.

Can you help us? Here are the full details of our photo-story competition!
