Speak up for the love of

Join thousands of people on 17th June 2015 for a day of action on climate change. We will come together to celebrate what we love and to meet with MPs asking them to commit to strong action during this important year. This will be the biggest ever UK climate lobby, and the first mass lobby of the new government. Let’s not lose what we love to climate change, just because no one knew we cared.

This is our time. If we act on climate change now, we will be able to protect what we love and create a secure future for our children and our grandchildren. Together we can help build a world free from food and water shortages, rising sea levels and more extreme weather.

2015 is a key year for international climate negotiations: in December world leaders will gather in Paris to make decisions that will affect our world’s future. The UK must take a leading role. If we all show how important tackling climate change is, it will give politicians a mandate to act.

You can sign up for the lobby with the Climate Coalition (of which SCA is a member) here. There is also lots more information about the day and how to prepare for it!

As part of the ‘Act Alliance’, Christian Aid, CAFOD and Hope For The Future are organising a coach to the event from South Yorkshire:

There will be two pick up points- Doncaster at 7am (Market Place, Car Park nr New Premier Inn) and Sheffield 7.45am (Sheffield Bus Station) for the lobby day.

The aim is to reach London in time for the Ecumenical service at 12 noon, and then join other lobbyists and campaigners in our constituencies groups at 1pm and the lobbying should be completed following the march at 4pm. The return coach will depart at 5pm in time for a civilised return time to Sheffield and Doncaster!

The cost is just £18 per person dropping off and picking up from London Embankment making the journey smooth.  (They may be able to run a second coach if they have the right demand)

If you would like to book a place on the coach, the bookings are being taken by Paul Furbey from Christian Aid. Please e-mail pfurbey (at) christian-aid (dot) org with your name, email address, mobile number (for use on the day), constituency and say that you were invited by Sheffield Climate Alliance.

If you have any questions or something isn’t clear please contact us – we hope you can join us!
