Snowing the Love!

Members of Sheffield Climate Alliance divestment group braved the snow to spend 2 hours in Endcliffe Park this morning, explaining divestment to members of the public and getting signatures for our petition.  This was part of the ‘Show the Love’ campaign, a national campaign to raise awareness of climate change issues.

Well, actually, we were not all that brave!  Our thanks go to the wonderfully accommodating and helpful staff at Café in the Park who allowed us to set up inside the café where we were able to engage with the public over a cup of tea and a scone.  We had picked our time and location to coincide with the weekly park run and we were pleased by the response from runners and other users of the café to our campaign.

Janet Milton, a member of the divestment group, said “I enjoyed the couple of hours with quite a variety of people showing interest in the divestment campaign, despite being damp and cold after running. The banner attracted the attention of many customers as they queued to be served.”

Although the weather made it difficult for us to be outside and talk to passers-by and other park users, we will be keeping an eye on the weather and getting out again on a Saturday morning when the weather forecast is better.  Watch this space!
