Time to fight fracking around Sheffield
The frackers are on Sheffield’s doorstep, with planning permission being sought for sites in Harthill (in Rotherham) and Marsh Lane (in NE Derbyshire). Both sites are very close to Sheffield, in rural settings, where massive numbers of HGV movements on country roads threaten to destroy the village environment.
We at SCA are aware of the huge climate threat posed by the Government’s championing of fracking, and the long-term global dangers involved. The planning applications will be decided according to planning law, so the suggested letters below target the most helpful objections – you are free to add other statements, but bear in mind they may be less effective in the planning meeting.
If you have any connections with the area, e.g. you visit for walking, cycling or the local pub, you could mention this.
Please print, sign and send your letters by 16th July for Harthill, and a similar date for Marsh Lane, to be confirmed (but why not do it now?)
