Article: To fix the climate, we need to talk about food

‘Eating Better (for a fair, green, healthy future)’ is a broad alliance working together to help people move towards eating less meat and dairy food and more foods better for human consumption and the planet. Organisations who support it include Greenpeace, Compassion in World Farming, Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH), People and Planet and the Soil Association. SCA food group are highlighting this particular article to show just how much food and agriculture plays a part in emissions and how the government aren’t doing enough to recognise this. The fact that ‘Eating Better’ have written to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in regards to speaking up at the recent UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn and the lack of mention of this area in the ‘Clean Growth Strategy’ released just a few weeks ago, speaks volumes that people want to see a structured plan as part of an ongoing transition to make a real difference.
