Carbon Neutral University: A local solution to the global climate challenge

CNU  invite you for an evening of lively networking, engaging talks, and bracing discussion in the University of Sheffield’s brand new Diamond building. With the climate talks in Paris approaching, and a new academic year upon us, we hope to inform ourselves of upcoming events and push towards decarbonisation at the University and beyond.
The preliminary plan for the event is as follows:
  • Welcome from CNU,
  • Short review of pressing climate science issues,
  • Linda McAvan (MEP for Yorkshire & the Humber) on the role of politicians in tackling climate, and explaining the significance of the upcoming Paris negotiations,
  • Introduction to the CNU and a quick catch up,
                 ### Networking and refreshments (funded by Faculty of Science Think Ahead) ###

  • Mike Berners-Lee (author of The Burning Question, and How Bad Are Bananas?), offering ideas for a zero carbon future,
  • Sustainability at the University of Sheffield, by Prof Fionn Stevenson (Head of Sheffield School of Architecture),
  • Closing message from CNU.

The event will be free but ticketed. See below.
