Sheffield Friends of The Earth Burns Night and Ceilidh

An anti-fracking benefit to raise funds for anti-fracking groups in and around Sheffield, please join us for a traditional Burns Supper followed by a Ceilidh. Starting at 7pm, we’ll be marking the event with a 3 course supper, speeches, poetry and toast, followed by a band and optional dancing! There will be a bar so you can raise your glass to one of the world’s great poets and raise money to help anti-fracking groups.

Programme for the event is as follows:

7.00 pm guests arrive. Please be on time.

7.20 Welcome given and first course of oatcakes and a selection of scottish cheeses

Address to a Haggis

2nd course – haggis , neeps and tatties

3rd course – a selection of scottish sweets including shortbread, tablet and macaroon

The Immortal Memory given by Richard Souter followed by a toast in silence to Robert Burns

The toast to the Lassies given by David Burley

The reply to the toast given by Lauren Jones

After this there will be a Ceilidh with live band “The Outlandish Knights”

11.00 pm Close with Auld Lang Syne

Have fun while raising funds for a noble cause – questions about fracking are allowed! The lead organiser Richard Souter is also looking for a couple more volunteers to help on the night in return for a volunteer ticket priced £12 – please email if you are interested.
