Tackling the climate emergency in Penistone and Stocksbridge
This is the first of a series of Zoom events covering what needs to be done about our climate emergency and social justice.
Speakers are Holly Johnston, Nurses United; Mr/s Booth, Bullhouse Mill; Fran Postlethwaite, Better Buses Campaign; Patrick Wakefield, Youth Climate Strikers.
Event supported by Penistone and Stocksbridge Labour Party, Green New Deal, Build Back Better, ACORN Sheffield, Upper Don Renewable Energy Ltd, Bullhouse Mill, Barnsley TUC, Don Valley Railway, Nurses United, Better Buses Campaign, Youth Climate Strikers.
Our aims are to let people know what is happening in existing campaigning groups working in the area and provide a place for cross-fertilisation of ideas and plans. We hope you will want to put your ideas into the pot and to work with the campaigns showcased to Build Back Better.
The call will open at 2.00pm for new Zoomies to practice and to set out the format of the event. Please arrive earlier so you can be “in your seat” and familiarised with the controls and how we are running the event before we start.
Start – 2:30 Introduction by the chair, Barry Tylee from Upper Don Renewable Energy and an explanation by Laura Ho of Green New Deal’s work.
There will be breakout groups for discussion and action planning after the speakers, followed by a 15 minute interval before resuming the full session to summarise and finalise action for the future.
